Meet the Woman Who's Revolutionizing the Construction Industry

| 3/8/2022

MIAMI, Fla. – Togal.AI is celebrating Chief Operating Officer Karlie LaCroix  and all of the women in the construction industry during the 24th Annual Women in Construction Week (March 6-12, 2022). LaCroix is a founding member of the start-up tech company, which uses artificial intelligence to revolutionize the estimating process in construction, allowing builders to takeoff projects faster and more accurately.

“It’s no secret that construction is a male dominated field,” said Karlie LaCroix, COO of Togal.AI. “At times it can be challenging, but most days I don’t even realize that this is the case because I am looked to and treated as an equal. I am grateful for my amazing organization and team of support that I have and hope to see more industries follow suit in having more women on the executive team.”

Togal.AI uses proprietary AI algorithms to automatically and accurately detect, label, and measure project spaces, walls & objects within seconds. Before Togal, estimators measured the square footage of rooms manually with rollers and rulers, or by dragging a computer mouse over each area to label it. Plans for major projects can be hundreds of pages, taking weeks to complete. Togal finishes those jobs in mere seconds, saving crews both time and money and allowing estimators to focus on building better jobs.

In addition to her Chief Operating Officer duties at Togal, LaCroix has spent five years as Business Development Administrator of Coastal Construction, the largest General Contractor in Florida.

“Karlie is breaking barriers in a male-dominated industry,” added Patrick Murphy, Founder and CEO of Togal.AI and Executive Vice President of Costal Construction. “She has been with us from the very beginning and has played a vital role to our company’s success. Togal is proud to have a number of strong, intelligent women working with us. We need to spotlight the success of women in the industry, not just during Women in Construction Week, but every week.”

With a background in construction and politics, LaCroix has great experience in business development administration and political fundraising having worked on a national and state level. She also helps manage a family investment portfolio that consists of a diverse group of companies spanning across various industries. LaCroix holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.

Togal was named a Miami Tech Leader at the Miami Leaders in Technology 2022 event. The company has been featured in Engineering News-Record (ENR), The Real Deal, Construction Dive, Construction Executive, the South Florida Business Journal, Florida Trend, Florida Construction News, Construction Equipment Guide, Constructech, Tribe, Cafecito Talk with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and other outlets and publications.
