Baptist Health Care adapts to community needs as it completes Pensacola facility

Carlton Proctor | 11/30/2021

In early January, Pensacola-based Baptist Health Care will complete the superstructure of its new $615-million, 264-bed hospital that’s on track to open next year. Mark Faulkner, president and CEO of BHC, talked to FLORIDA TREND about the largest and most expensive health care facility ever built in Northwest Florida.

Mental Health: “Since our groundbreaking in late October last year, we have made a couple of significant changes to the layout of our 50-acre health care campus. We’ve added a $30-million, freestanding 72-bed behavioral health facility whose cost is contained in our overall $615-million budget. We are seeing an epidemic of behavioral health illnesses escalate in this community and feel this is a very appropriate time to elevate our commitment to this growing health concern."
