Already, 2021 has delivered three major hurricanes – the average for an entire season – and amassed more named storms, more storm days and more vigor in cyclonic strength and longevity than a normal year. While mid-August through mid-October is the busiest period for Atlantic hurricanes, Sept. 10 is the pinnacle – a time when warm water and low wind shear conspire in earnest to turn tropical waves into menacing storms. Jorge Pérez of Related Group donates record $33M to Miami Foundation
As the season of giving approaches, famed Miami developer Jorge M. Pérez is breaking a record. Pérez announced Thursday he will be donating the entire $33 million from the sale of his longtime Coconut Grove residence — a transaction that closed Wednesday — to The Miami Foundation. It’s the largest donation The Miami Foundation has ever received and is among the largest philanthropic gifts in city history. More from the Miami Herald.
A booming Bay County? Economic developers forecast unprecedented growth over next few years
Becca Hardin, president of the Bay County Economic Development Alliance, says she believes the local community will experience "a level of growth" during the next three to five years "that we've never seen before." In a monthly meeting Wednesday, Hardin updated investors and the public on which of the EDA's ongoing projects are gaining the most momentum. Three Niceville businesses get slice of $46 billion military contract
Three Niceville businesses have recently been awarded significant military contracts, according to announcements from the federal Department of Defense (DoD). Two of those Niceville contractors are among 55 businesses across the United States to be awarded unspecified parts of a $46 billion, 11-year Air Force contract for work in digital engineering, weapons analytics, and other technical work for Eglin Air Force Base and its mission partners elsewhere in the country. Meat vending machine serving up fresh cuts, late-night snacks in Tampa
A meat vending machine outside of the Boozy Pig butcher shop and restaurant in Tampa is offering up fresh cuts, Italian sausage and more meaty snacks 24/7 in Tampa. Growing up, owner Andrew Tambuzzo learned to make Italian sausage from his paternal grandfather, who owned a small grocery store in Ybor City. He would help his mom’s side of the family make sausage when he was out of school on summer break or for Christmas.
