Jacksonville introduces new 24-hour dockless scooter program

Laura Hampton | 6/29/2021

Introduced by City Councilwoman LeAnna Cumber, the program provides access to scooters in the downtown area 24 hours a day year-round.

“We are the last major city in Florida to have a regulated scooter program,” Cumber says. “I thought it was important, and it provides people a fun, quick and easy way to get around.” The pilot program gives four vendors, Blue Duck, Helbiz, Link and Spin, permission to operate 100 scooters each in the dockless mobility zone (DMZ), which stretches from the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center on LeVilla Center Drive to TIAA Bank Field at Gator Bowl Boulevard.

This story also features expert opinions, business briefs and people in the news: LeAnna Cumber; dockless mobility zone; Lori Radcliffe-Meyers; Pet Paradise; Treace Medical Concepts; VyStar; St. Augustine Food Truck Co-op; Felasco Tech City; Superior Fence & Rail; Diana Donovan; Momentum Labs; Crowley Engineering Services; MoveDay
