The departure of two prominent Sarasota officials is not a widespread sign of discontent or broad overhauls at City Hall, city leaders say, despite rumors to the contrary in online comments by former commissioners and others.
Those comments also raised questions about several other abrupt leadership changes taking place just three months after a new commission was elected and new leadership selected.
Those include retirement announcements, an overall restructuring of the day-to-day operations at City Hall, and the sudden resignation of Sarasota’s longtime police chief and the assistant city manager.
