The garage sale felt as if a Disney Store had sprouted up randomly on a driveway in a sleepy neighborhood in Polk County.

Lynn Privett was selling nearly everything from her prized collection.

There were vintage Mickey Mouse ears in pristine condition with price tags still attached. Mickey Mouse wreaths and Christmas trees were on display in the sweltering summer heat. Mickey dishes, Mickey nutcrackers, Mickey you name it. It all had to go.

“I told you, I’m a collector!” Privett laughed. “I had over 500 Mickey ears. I didn’t wear them. They gave me a headache.”

In Central Florida, thousands of employees like Privett are sidelined even as the theme parks have reopened for business. Some are unsure if they will ever go back to their old jobs. At SeaWorld Orlando, the company has advertised to hire some new workers when it hasn’t recalled all the furloughed employees, several workers said, and they complained the company isn’t communicating with them.
