Daytona Beach tourism leaders want time to consider other potential options before renewing the contract of the Brandon Agency, the marketing company that created the destination’s “Wide.Open.Fun.” promotional campaign.

After a lengthy, wide-ranging discussion that consumed the bulk of a four-hour meeting on Wednesday, the board of directors of the Halifax Area Advertising Authority tabled a motion to approve a one-year extension of the marketing contract for the Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based firm.

Instead, the board agreed to devote a Feb. 19 workshop session to additional debate about potentially embarking on a search for a new marketing company. The topic will be considered again at the HAAA’s next board meeting on March 18. The firm’s current contract runs through September.
