The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Aspire Health Partners provides high-quality, accessible mental health care services in-person, and via Telehealth throughout Florida

Tampa, Fla. – Aug. 26, 2019 – Today the Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) announced the grand opening of the StevenA. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Aspire Health Partners located at 4520 Oak Fair Boulevard in Tampa. The new clinic offers comprehensive high-quality mental health services to the nearly 60,000 post-9/11 veterans and military families in the Tampa Bay area, regardless of discharge status, length of service, or combat experience.

The Cohen Clinic at Aspire Health Partners, the first of its kind in Florida, is also able to serve clients across the state with CVN Telehealth face-to-face video therapy.

CVN, a not-for-profit philanthropic organization, is a nationwide network of clinics supporting post-9/11 veterans and military families with mental health services. The network has14 clinics in operation across the country with plans for a total of 25 Cohen Clinics nationwide by 2020.

“The Tampa Bay region’s growing military population makes it an ideal location for the first Cohen Clinic in Florida,” said CVN President and CEO Dr. Anthony Hassan. “We are proud to partner with Aspire Health Partners to provide customized, life-saving mental health care to families who continuously sacrifice a great deal for our nation.”

The clinic is expected to serve more than 500 clients in its first year with services available to all post-9/11 veterans and their family members, as well as National Guard and Reservists, their families, and the families of active duty service members. For those in crisis, the Cohen Clinic at Aspire Health Partners schedules same-day appointments. For non-crisis appointments, 94% of CVN clients surveyed across the network report “getting a first appointment as soon as they wanted it.” Treatments are available for a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment issues, anger, grief and loss, family issues, transitional challenges, relationship problems, and child behavioral problems.

“Providing proven, effective care is key for us,” said Clinic Director Karen Blanchette. “In addition, we offer flexible hours, transportation to and from the clinic, onsite child supervision and same-day appointments for those in crisis – all in an effort to break down barriers to care.”

“Aspire Health Partners is honored to work to ensure our veterans and military families receive the very best mental health care,” said Babette Hankey, President and CEO of Aspire Health Partners. “Together with CVN, we will provide culturally-competent services that support resiliency and move toward recovery.”

Honorable attendees at today’s grand opening included Governor Ron DeSantis, Medal of Honor recipient former U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Pitts, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, and Dr. Hassan.
