As a government agency, it’s often difficult to offer as many incentives as the private sector. However, the Walton County Tax Collector’s office believes that engaging its team members with culture, policies and decisions creates a team that embraces its unique work environment.

Located in Northwest Florida and the beautiful Emerald Coast, the office has three locations strategically placed to best serve its customers.

Under the guidance of Tax Collector Rhonda Skipper and the leadership team, the entire organization works daily to deliver “Warmth and Care in Government.”

The team consists of 43 outstanding individuals with diverse strengths and talents who honor their mission by delivering the highest quality of service with people who care.

“We have learned that choosing culture over tradition starts with the interview panel selecting the right candidate for a cultural fit. This is half of the journey towards the organization’s success. This is achieved by defining personality profiles and identifying what makes the person who they are as they become self-aware as a professional and not just a personality,” says Walton County Tax Collector Rhonda Skipper.

Choosing the right person for every department safeguards the culture and creates synergy. The office has found great success in utilizing the communication assessment tool KLLP Life Languages. This tool has strengthened communication as a whole and helped the team to navigate using KLLP’s “7 life languages.” The KLLP identifies the communication styles of each team member and how they interact with one another in the workplace.

Introducing warmth and care in their workplace culture has resulted in satisfied customers and team members. Bottom line: if the culture is right, customer service becomes a brand of its own.
