› Last Tilted Kilt ‘breastaurant’ in South Florida goes bust in Boca Raton
Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, the national “breastaurant” chain known for serving up objectified women along with shepherd’s pie, has closed its final South Florida location in Boca Raton. The Tilted Kilt franchise was founded in 2003 but was purchased in 2018 by Jacksonville-based the ARC Group.
› People pushed for a museum on Miami’s Virginia Key. Now there’s a fund to run it
On Monday, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez formally signed a resolution creating the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park Museum Fund for a minimum of 10 years. The fund is intended to help pay for operation of the museum after it’s built, although the city has not said how much it will commit.
› Manatee County’s first Costco to open Aug. 21
Clear out your cabinets — the grand opening of Costco is upon us. According to the webpage of the new Bradenton Costco on the wholesaler’s website, the store will open on Aug. 21. According to plans from developer M&M Realty Partners of New Jersey, the newly constructed Costco warehouse at 805 Lighthouse Drive in Bradenton will be 155,562 square feet.
› Headwinds from soccer stadium deal worry MIA
As Miami nears a deal for a soccer stadium and commercial complex beside Miami International Airport, county lawmakers want to know how that will affect the area’s biggest economic engine. A county commission committee Tuesday advanced a directive to administrators sponsored by Rebeca Sosa to detail in 90 days potential impacts of the project sought at what is now Melreese Golf Course.
