Sloppy Joe's to Host Bartender Competition
TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (July 11, 2019) – Sloppy Joe’s on the Beach will host the first annual #GetSloppy Bartending Competition on Friday, July 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and include one sample drink from each bartender and a token to vote for your favorite bartender. Unique drink specials will be offered all evening. Competing for a grand prize of $800 will be professional bartenders, currently employed at places like Sea Dog Brewing Co., Chili’s, Stillwaters Tavern, Brewster’s Tavern, and The Boathouse Restaurant at Walt Disney World. Second and third prizes include Marriott Hotels and Resorts vacation getaways.
Contestants will choose one liquor from the following: Patron Tequila, Bacardi Superior Rum, Grey Goose Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Gin and Dewar’s 12 Scotch and they will have three minutes to create and garnish a drink for each of eight judges. The second round will require speed and talent to develop a cocktail using a surprise ingredient. Audience participation is required to measure performances of each bartender.
