Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando celebrates 100th adoption through foster dog program at Aloft Orlando Downtown with Bow Wow Luau

| 7/10/2019

Orlando, FL (July 10, 2019) – For the past year, visitors of Aloft Orlando Downtown have been met with an extra sweet, adorable greeting by adoptable dogs from Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando housed in the lobby through the Dog in Residence program.  Now, Pet Alliance is proud to announce the 100th dog adopted through the foster program, which they will celebrate with a special “Bow Wow Luau” held at the hotel on Saturday, July 27.  From 3pm-7pm, all are encouraged to dress their pup in their favorite Pawaiian attire and enjoy a costume contest, live music, Hawaiian cuisine, pawsitively awesome merchants and uniquely designed custom tile dog houses up for auction with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Pet Alliance.  Plus, pawty guests will get their last chance to register for the My Best Friend Wine Contest for a chance to have their pet featured on Quantum Leap Winery’s Rescue Red or Rescue White labels.  The fun-filled event is free to attend.  Pup parents can also purchase cocktails for $10, which includes a specialty cup, sunglasses and a dog bandana, with proceeds as well supporting Pet Alliance.

Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando and Aloft Orlando Downtown’s Dog in Residence program is the first and only hotel dog adoption program in Central Florida.  Through the program, the pet-friendly hotel houses one dog from Pet Alliance at a time in a mini-Aloft doghouse and enclosure stationed for public view in the lobby, who can be adopted by hotel guests and visiting locals.  Since launching in late May of last year, every pup part of the program has found their furever home at Aloft.

“We are thrilled to reach our 100th dog adoption through the Dog in Residence program at Aloft Orlando Downtown,” says Special Events Manager Caryn Freas.  “This has been a hugely popular program that we are very grateful to our partners at Aloft for.  From hotel guests (even some celebrity!) to visiting locals, it warms our hearts to see the families created for our pups this way.  We look forward to celebrating Pawaiian-style at the Bow Wow Luau and continuing to raise awareness overall for our beloved cause.”

Join the “Bow Wow Luau” on Saturday, July 27 from 3pm-7pm at Aloft Orlando Downtown located at 500 South Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801.  For more information about Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, call 407-351-7722 or visit https://petallianceorlando.org/.

About Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando
Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando was founded in 1937 as the Orlando Humane Society.  Since then, the organization has worked hard to provide positive and safe outcomes for pets.  Today, Pet Alliance has a dedicated focus on the welfare and well-being of dogs and cats in Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties.  As the “go to” experts in Greater Orlando, they do good things for dogs and cats and the people who love them.  Their goal is to provide compassionate and knowledgeable services for pets and to be leaders in innovative animal care and veterinary medicine.  More than 7,000 surrendered pets and homeless animals turn to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando for caring, compassion and hope through their shelters each year.  Pet Alliance provides food, medical care and shelter for dogs and cats until they find their new homes.  In addition to providing housing and care, Pet Alliance works to develop progressive and innovative programs that help keep pets and people together.  Pet Alliance also provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and animal wellness through their public veterinary clinics.  Their shelter programs are supported entirely by donations from the community they serve.  Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando has two pet adoption centers (Orlando and Sanford) and three veterinary clinics (Orlando, Sanford and Alafaya).
