Automotive Leader JM Family Enterprises Diversifies with Acquisition of Home Franchise Concepts

| 7/8/2019
JM Family Enterprises, Inc., South Florida’s $16.3 billion diversified automotive company, has acquired Home Franchise Concepts (HFC), one of the world’s largest franchising systems in the home improvement goods and services space and the parent of the Budget Blinds®, Tailored Living®, Concrete Craft® and AdvantaClean® brands.

Consistently rated at the top of their categories, HFC’s four brands are supported by nearly 1,700 franchise territories in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. JM Family acquired HFC from a private equity fund sponsored by PE firm Trilantic North America, which initiated a strategic investment in the business in 2015 to fuel growth opportunities.

“As a franchise leader in the multi-billion dollar home improvement space, Home Franchise Concepts represents an ideal fit for our company, enabling JM Family to use our 50 years of experience with the franchise model to amplify HFC’s already established brands,” said Brent Burns, president and CEO, JM Family Enterprises.

Burns said JM Family was attracted to HFC for the Irvine, Calif.-based company’s similar core values, including a customer-centric philosophy that positions business owners to be successful through proven business models, expert training, and the latest products, technology, marketing and other resources.

“We’re excited about what this alliance means for both companies,” Burns said. “For JM Family, it’s a chance to grow our business, diversify our knowledge base and expand our capabilities through HFC’s proven franchise models. For HFC, it’s an opportunity for new resources and synergies that can take the franchisor’s four industry-leading retail brands to the next level.”

Established in 1993, HFC provides a growing suite of home solutions that combine the latest products and styles, including motorized, automated offerings such as the new Budget Blinds Smart Home Collection, with personalized, in-home customer service delivered by local franchisees.
HFC’s family of brands includes:

Budget Blinds – The largest retailer of custom window coverings in North America.
Tailored Living featuring PremierGarage – The largest franchise system in North America providing whole-home organization solutions.
Concrete Craft – The only decorative concrete franchise system backed by a large international company.
AdvantaClean – A national provider of professional services for a healthy home.
“At HFC, it all comes down to caring for our franchisees and the customers they serve – something at which JM Family has excelled for 50 years,” said Shirin Behzadi, CEO of Home Franchise Concepts. “From this perspective, an alliance with JM Family makes tremendous sense. JM Family is a long-term partner committed to growing its business and customer base through the latest products and services. JM Family comes with new resources and thinking that can ‘turbo-charge’ HFC brands.”

“HFC has the solid foundation necessary to become the place for homeowners to go to for their home improvement and enhancement needs. Our partnership with JM Family will help us achieve this vision.”

JM Family was founded in 1968 by automotive legend Jim Moran, who lived by the credo that “associates are our most important asset.” According to Burns, HFC also operates with an associates-first philosophy at heart. “That similarity and many other parallels between JM Family and HFC – most notably culture and giving back – made the decision to move forward a clear one.”
