Reaching New Heights: New MRO Hangar at Treasure Coast International Airport

| 4/26/2019

Treasure Coast International Airport is an engine for economic growth in St. Lucie County, Florida.

In addition to having an Instrument Landing System runway measuring more than 6,490 feet, a recently renovated passenger terminal and U.S. Customs facility, Foreign Trade Zone #218 and no landing fees, Treasure Coast International Airport (FPR) is constructing a 31,000-sq.-ft. hangar for aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul. The new hangar will complement the airport’s thriving cluster of nearly 50 aviation and aerospace tenants, large and small.

Standing at 57 feet tall and complete with a 43-by-130-foot door, this new MRO hangar is designed to comfortably accommodate two large aircraft with quick runway access, large apron and foam fire suppression system. The estimated $7.4-million project is being funded by county dollars and state and federal grants.

  • Strategic Location
Treasure Coast International Airport’s strategic location — equidistant between Orlando and Miami — provides access to more than 70% of the state within a three-hour drive, direct access to Interstate 95 and Florida’s Turnpike, and close proximity to rail and seaports
  • Workforce Advantage
Located onsite, Aviator College of Aeronautical Science & Technology is expanding its Fort Pierce campus to produce more maintenance technicians. The St. Lucie Public Schools’ partnership with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University offers students careers in aerospace and engineering disciplines. Most recently, Indian River State College launched a new Aviation and Marine Training Program for advanced manufacturing degrees with MSSC and NIMS certifications.
  • The Bottom Line
St. Lucie County offers a cost-competitive environment with industry-specific incentives, workforce training and a pro-business climate.
