Bob’s River Place, a popular old-fashioned swimming hole on the Suwannee River, opened for the season Saturday, armed with recently granted variances that its owner says will keep it in open for its 45th year.
That means swimmers from Florida and beyond will continue to make splashdowns in the river’s coffee-colored waters after jumping off high tree branches, flying down on big slides and swinging out on long rope swings.
“We’re definitely in a position where we can open up with no problems with the regulators,” owner Bob Hawkins said. “We’re OK in that respect.”
