Florida state colleges wary of dual-enrollment change
State colleges could face higher costs after a new law revamped the dual-enrollment program for students at private high schools who take courses at public colleges and universities. Dual enrollment is an increasingly popular program that allows students to take post-secondary courses that help them complete high school as well as get a head start on college degrees. Florida submits revised Every Student Succeeds Act plan
The Florida Department of Education sent in its revised federal school accountability plan Monday, months after the U.S. Education department said multiple revisions were needed. In its updated version, the state said it had filed for a waiver of certain testing rules for middle school students in science and math, so they do not have to take more than one state exam in the same year. Florida Virtual School sues Arizona State University, complains of trademark stealing
The Florida Virtual School today sued Arizona State University, and an affiliated online school, claiming trademark infringement. The virtual school — Florida’s online public school — says that the Arizona school is improperly using the name Florida Virtual School in its paid online advertisements. [Source: Orlando Sentinel]
