To prepare to hike up Mount Fuji this week, Lorellei Zaporteza climbed stairwells.
For the past few weeks she's been putting on a 15-pounds backpack and going up and down 15 floors of Florida Hospital's downtown tower.
She's also been wearing an elevation mask, which simulates high altitudes. "Going from the land of sinkholes, that is the main thing" to train for, she said.
