    Pingpong is catching on as a night life fad in a few South Florida clubs, where patrons can play with a cocktail in one hand and a paddle in the other.

    The phenomenon, which started in New York, has sprung up in locations as varied as Boca Raton and Miami Beach.

    Veteran Palm Beach restaurateurs Burt and Robin Rapoport recently opened SLAM Table Tennis Club on the second level of the Cinemark 20 Palace in Boca Raton. Chalk, another pingpong-inspired club, is set to open on South Beach by the end of the summer.

    Bar goers have had their fling with other games in the past, from darts to pool to foosball. Now they have a new option.
