Who Said That?

    On the national scale, the economy is puttering along. On the local scale, however, the Largo area is seeing some action — at least when it comes to family dining.

    On Walsingham Road, three eateries have recently opened their doors, including Mike's Pizza and Pub, Beef 'O' Brady's and a Village Inn.

    Meanwhile, further east, across from Largo Mall on Seminole Boulevard, a McDonald's restaurant is being built from the ground up. Up on Belcher Road, Billy Jack's Burger Shack opened its doors Sept. 2.

    "Some people might not agree, but things seem to be on an upswing,'' said Cky Ready, a Largo city planner. "A year ago, with the economy the way it was, a lot of people wanted to simply pull permits and expand. Now we're seeing renovations and new buildings.''
