Lucious T. Harris has been named executive vice president and CFO of Miami-based Hamilton Bank, a newly created position. Harris was most recently CFO at Coral Gables-based AleNet, a computer applications provider. He has worked in the financial industry since 1978.
Communications -- Deerfield Beach-based L&L Communications has tapped Ryan Louise Roth as a partner. Roth was most recently executive vice president of the public relations firm and has worked in the communications industry since 1993.
Consumer Products -- Ronald E. Tuchman has been named president and COO of Orlando-based Action Products International, an educational toy and publishing company. Tuchman held the same positions at Mickleton, N.J.-based Advanced Logic Systems, a technology company. He replaces Ron Kaplan, who is still chairman of Action Products.
Education -- Florida A&M University President Frederick Humphries has resigned. Humphries says he is leaving before the Florida Board of Regents dissolves in July. The board manages the 10 universities in the State University System, but the Legislature voted last session to replace it with a board of trustees for each university. Humphries, 65, had been president of FAMU for 16 years and is a 1957 graduate of the university. He plans to take a one-year sabbatical and then help develop FAMU's law school in Orlando. The university is searching for a replacement.
Healthcare -- Bob Hudson has been promoted to president and CEO of Gainesville-based AvMed Health Plan. He was most recently executive vice president and COO of the healthcare company, where he has worked for the past 23 years. Hudson replaces Ed Peddie, who retired in December after working at the company for 24 years.
Law -- Former U.S. Rep. Tillie Fowler, who represented Jacksonville from 1992 until last year, is joining Holland and Knight's federal public law group. Fowler, 58, reportedly was being considered by President Bush for the Secretary of the Navy post before she joined the Tampa-based law firm. Fowler will be based in Washington but will work occasionally in Jacksonville.
Restaurants -- After searching for months, Miami-based Burger King Corp. has named John Dasburg chairman, CEO and president. Dasburg, 58, was most recently president and CEO of Minneapolis-based Northwest Airlines, positions he held for 10 years. He replaces Colin Storm, who was interim CEO since Dennis Malamatinas resigned last July.
Services -- Jacksonville-based Suddath Relocation Systems has tapped Michael E. Demont as senior vice president, a newly created position at the moving company. Demont was most recently CEO of Suddath's records-management company, Data Storage Centers, until the sale of that company to Iron Mountain, a Boston-based records-management firm. Demont has been with Suddath since 1996.
Technology -- Alan L. Haase has been named CEO of Melbourne-based SkyCross, a startup company affiliated with Maitland-based Milcom Technologies. Haase had been group president for communication products for Orland Park, Ill.-based Andrew Corp., a provider of communications systems. SkyCross develops advanced wireless antenna solutions.
