Agriculture -- David Flagg retired from his longtime post as chief lobbyist for Gainesville-based Shands HealthCare to take a position in the private sector. Flagg, 64, a former state lawmaker and Gainesville mayor, is now executive vice president of 3 Sigma, a Gainesville-based company that brokers and finances U.S. agricultural products shipped overseas.
Attractions -- Jeff Swanagan has resigned as executive director of Tampa's Florida Aquarium. Swanagan, 44, who is credited with transforming the aquarium into one of the city's top attractions, has taken the top spot at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, which is almost twice as big as Tampa's. The city is conducting a nationwide search for Swanagan's successor.
Banking -- Paul W. Dresselhaus has been named Florida president of Bank of America Private Bank, a new position. Dresselhaus, 44, was most recently Tampa regional president for Miami-based Northern Trust Bank and has 20 years' experience in private banking. Cary Putrino, 41, replaces Dresselhaus as Tampa regional president at Northern Trust. Putrino was most recently vice president of new business for Northern Trust and has more than 16 years' experience.
Andrew D. Hahn has been tapped for the newly created position of vice president and senior corporate lending officer at St. Petersburg-based Raymond James Bank, a subsidiary of Raymond James Financial. Hahn was most recently vice president of corporate banking for SouthTrust Bank in Fort Lauderdale.
Education -- Steven J. Uhlfelder was appointed by President George W. Bush to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, a government-funded international educational exchange program. Uhlfelder is a member of Florida State University's Board of Trustees and a partner with the Holland & Knight law firm in Tallahassee.
Government -- Geoffery P.R. Becker has been named deputy secretary of Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Becker was most recently staff director for the majority office of the House of Representatives. He replaces Peyton Ferington, who retired.
Professional Services -- Fort Lauderdale-based Precision Response Corp. has named Wesley O'Brien CEO. O'Brien takes over from David Epstein, co-founder of the professional services company. Epstein will resign this spring. O'Brien was most recently president and COO.
Sports -- Michael Huyghue has resigned as senior vice president of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars professional football team. Huyghue, 40, who negotiated player contracts for the Jaguars, has started his own company, Jacksonville-based Axcess Sports & Entertainment, to represent professional athletes. Paul Vance, the Jaguars' vice president of administration and general counsel, will take over for Huyghue. Huyghue had been with the Jaguars since 1994.
