Advertising -- Sandy Dougherty has been promoted to partner at The Davis Agency, a Tampa-based ad agency, which will be renamed Davis & Dougherty. Previously COO, Dougherty has 11 years' experience in the broadcast industry. She joined The Davis Agency in 1998.

Banking -- William Linder Sutton, state secretary of commerce from 1989 to 1991, has been named president of Lake Wales-based American Bank and Trust. Sutton, 62, has more than 25 years' experience in the banking industry and is a former president of the Florida Banker's Association. He replaces Gregory D. Moss, who resigned after nine years as president. Sutton is the third president of the 26-year-old bank.

Consumer Products -- Boca Raton-based Rexall Sundown, a vitamin maker, tapped Ralph Denisco as CEO. Denisco was most recently president and CEO of Nestle Ice Cream Co. and replaces Damon DeSantis, whose father founded Rexall Sundown. The company was bought out by and is a subsidiary of The Netherlands-based Royal Numico N.V., a nutritional supplements company.


Government -- Gov. Jeb Bush has named Roberta Zipperer, a Jacksonville community service advocate, as chairwoman of Volunteer Florida!, the governor's top volunteerism board. Zipperer serves as program operations administrator for the Department of Children & Families' Work First Plus program.

Publishing -- Humberto Castell? has been named executive editor of El Nuevo Herald, the Spanish-language newspaper published by the Miami Herald. Castello was most recently managing editor of El Nuevo Herald and replaces Carlos Castañeda, who is retiring.

Orlando-based Turnstile Publishing Co. has promoted Eric Beckson to president and COO. Beckson started with the company in 1990 and was formerly executive vice president. He replaces Ken Hanson, who resigned. Turnstile's flagship publication is Golfweek magazine.

Sports -- The Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League has tapped Dave Berryman as president and COO. Berryman was most recently president and CEO of Arkansas Sports Entertainment, which owns the Arkansas Riverblades East Coast Hockey League franchise and the Arkansas Twisters arena football franchise. He replaces Eric Margenau.

Technology -- Paul J. Fego has been promoted to COO, a new position, of Jupiter-based Photronics, the world's largest provider of photomasks, which are instrumental in the operation of semiconductors. Fego was most recently senior vice president of North America for the company and has 21 years' experience in the semiconductor industry.

Transportation -- Jacksonville-based Landstar System has named Henry Gerkens COO, a newly created position. Gerkens will also remain president. He joined the transportation services company in 1988 as vice president and CFO.

Utilities -- Lew Hay has been elected chairman of Juno Beach-based FPL Group. Hay is also president and CEO of the company and replaces James L. Broadhead, who retired. Hay joined FPL Group in 1999 as CFO and prior to that was CFO of U.S. Foodservice. Broadhead had served as chairman since 1990.
