New Contract

David Villano | 9/1/2006
Florida International University President Mitch Maidique has agreed to a new three-year contract that could pay him more than $500,000 a year in base salary, bonuses and supplemental compensation. Maidique has won praise for helping FIU win state approval for an on-campus medical school. Others have criticized him for his role in a multimillion-dollar accounting scandal and for recent revelations that he misused thousands of dollars on luxury travel. He is now in his 20th year at the school's helm.
