Bold, strategic and directive. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think of the leadership and direction of our Florida Chamber and its Foundation. Under the guidance of Mark Wilson, the Chamber years ago set forth its “Florida 2030” plan — a strategic blueprint for achieving Florida’s potential. The plan helps define and guide goals and strategies for Florida’s private, public and civic partners as they work together to shape Florida’s economic future.
The blueprint, organized around six pillars of Florida’s economy, focuses on achieving targets that will transform Florida by 2030. It identifies the state that we want to be in 2030 and explores strategies that help us get there.
Many times throughout each year, I find myself referencing the Florida 2030 blueprint as it provides a reminder of the vision and directive that we all share for driving our state forward.
The six pillars are founded on three targeted initiatives: driving global competitiveness, creating prosperity and high-paying jobs, and building vibrant and resilient communities. These three initiatives will be achieved through focusing on the following six pillars:
➤ Talent Supply and Education — Improving Florida’s talent pipeline for a better workforce
➤ Innovation and Economic Development — Creating good jobs by diversifying Florida’s economy
➤ Infrastructure and Growth Leadership — Preparing Florida’s infrastructure for smart growth and development
➤ Business Climate and Competitiveness — Building the perfect climate for business
➤ Civic and Governance Systems — Making government and civics more efficient and effective
➤ Quality of Life and Quality of Place — Championing Florida’s quality of life
The Florida 2030 blueprint was devised and developed through three years of research, collaboration and strategic planning. It was launched in 2018 and looked to measure results over the next twelve years. As we are well past the halfway mark for achieving many of the goals that have been put forth in this directive, we also know that there is much more work to do.
As it has been shared by the Florida Chamber, we as leaders of the business community must continue to collaborate at the speed of opportunity and continually work to refine and enhance the strategies of the 2030 blueprint so we can remain focused on the end goal.
To continue to follow and evaluate the progress being made towards achieving the goals and targets set forth in the the Florida 2030 blueprint, you can visit the Florida Chamber’s tracking website at TheFloridaScorecard.org
Together through continued collaborative efforts in the business community and guidance by Mark and his team at the Florida Chamber and its Foundation, I am confident we will meet and exceed the goals and targets of the Florida 2030 Blueprint.
