Super Simulation

With a new IBM supercomputer hundreds of times more powerful than a PC, the Institute of Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida is helping the Army simulate large-scale, real-time operations that can involve soldiers anywhere in the world. The System Cluster 1350 is capable of storing more than 40,000 music CDs or 500,000 copies of the Encyclopedia Britannica or calculating more than a billion income tax returns in one second. Funding came from $2.6 million in federal grants.
