Oil Spill Update

» The Northern Gulf Institute awarded $500,000 to a group of Florida State University oceanographers, meteorologists and marine biologists and ecologists, who will conduct a comprehensive study of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill's impact on coastal and ocean marine ecosystems in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.

» The National Science Foundation gave $200,000 to FSU's National High Magnetic Field Laboratory for analysis of petroleum samples from the Gulf. Results will help determine whether the samples originated from the Deepwater Horizon spill and will help predict where the oil from that spill is going.
