3-D Mapping

Three-dimensional mapping technology enables cardiologists to more safely treat abnormal heartbeats, one of the most common forms of cardiac problems.

Dr. Efrain Gonzalez, a specialist in cardiac electrophysiology at Heart- Doctors are using 3-D images to map the activity of patients’ hearts. Well, treats arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) by inserting a 3-D mapping catheter through the patient’s skin. The device then creates a 3-D reconstruction depicting both the exterior and interior of the heart. The map helps the doctor determine circuits that need to be surgically removed in order to get the heart beating correctly again.
