This weekend, River Ridge High School's Royal Robotics team from New Port Richey and other local robotics teams will compete in a preseason competition at Roboticon Tampa Bay.

The event is run by the Manchester, N.H., nonprofit FIRST, which stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology." It seeks to inspire young people to pursue science and technology through mentor-based programs and competitions.
