Flights take off from Miami to Cuba and bridge a 55-year gap

With a chocolate cigar and dominoes in hand, passengers boarded the inaugural flights to Cuba Wednesday as American Airlines bridged a 55-year gap in scheduled airline service between Miami and Cuba as it took off for Cienfuegos and Holguín. More from the Miami Herald.

Rick Scott makes emergency loans available to small businesses impacted by Hermine

The loan program, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), will “provide short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses that experienced physical or economic damage during the storm and recovery efforts,” Gov.
