Lipman to distribute 1,200 backpacks to Immokalee children at community event

  WHAT:

Lipman – North America’s largest field tomato grower – will distribute more than 1,200 free backpacks filled with essential school supplies to elementary and middle school children* in Immokalee during its 5th Annual Lipman Backpack Giveaway event.

More than 30 local nonprofits will be present at the event, offering free haircuts, bicycle giveaways, and free food and entertainment. Event partner Ciclovia will provide a rock-climbing wall and exercise classes. A bounce house and children’s games will also be on-site.

Representatives from the Immokalee Fire Control District will display emergency vehicles, and the Sheriff’s Department’s Crime Prevention Unit will provide educational materials. More details:

  • More than 1,000 children will be receiving backpacks with school supplies. Families can enjoy free food, entertainment and giveaways.
  • Approximately 2,000 local residents estimated to be in attendance
  • Jaime Weisinger, community relations director for Lipman and board chairman for Lipman Family Foundation, will be there representing Lipman

*Children must be present to receive school supplies.
