Gov. Scott celebrates creation of 2,500 new jobs at Amazon's Ruskin Fulfillment Center

RUSKIN, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott attended the grand opening ceremony of Amazon’s fulfillment center in Ruskin, which has more than doubled its job creation from 1,000 to 2,500 full-time positions since its opening day in September 2014. Amazon has four facilities in Florida and currently employs more than 4,000 Floridians across the state.

Brian Owens, Amazon Regional Director of Fulfillment, said, “We have found exceptional talent in the Tampa Bay area who are some of the very best employees I’ve had the pleasure to work with at Amazon. We appreciate Governor Scott and other state and local officials who supported Amazon bringing these great, full-time jobs with comprehensive benefits starting on day one to local Floridians.”

Amazon’s Ruskin fulfillment center is one of thirteen 8th-generation facilities in North America, which utilize Amazon Robotics, vision systems, and 20 years’ worth of software and mechanical innovations to fulfill customer orders. The company’s two fulfillment centers combined have more than 2 million-square-feet of floor space and ship packages ranging from toys and baby products to electronics and tools. There are more than 150,000 authors, sellers, and developers in Florida growing their businesses and reaching new customers on Amazon platforms.
