Employers advertised more open jobs in February
U.S. employers posted more job openings in February, a sign that hiring will likely improve in the months ahead. The Labor Department said Tuesday that employers advertised 4.2 million job openings, up 7.7 percent from January. That's the highest number of postings since January 2008. More at the AP.
Most states -- not Florida -- trim voting lines
A new report by a nonpartisan public policy group says Americans spent an average of three minutes less standing in line to vote in the 2012 presidential election than they did four years earlier. On Equal Pay Day, key facts about the gender pay gap
Today marks “Equal Pay Day,” the date that symbolizes how far into the new year the average woman would have to work to earn what the average man did in the previous year. With a new executive order issued today, President Obama and Democrats are hoping to peg the gender wage gap as a major issue ahead of the 2014 elections. More at the Pew Research Center.
Lawmakers look to expand, regulate telehealth
A Senate bill would increase the use of telemedicine in Florida and establish requirements for health providers who treat patients remotely. A companion bill is also making its way through the House, but that bill doesn't require doctors to have a Florida license - only that they be licensed in their home state and registered in Florida. Retail environments play key role attracting shoppers
Selling takes more than having the best clothes or gadgets on the shelf, the Association for Retail Environments says. It also means nailing the right look and feel – the right wall treatments, lighting and display fixtures — that give a brick-and-mortar store an edge over online retailers.
