Florida Trend has been "The Magazine of Florida Business" for close to 50 years, and one of the biggest trends we've observed is how often the personal lives and business lives of executives intersect. As you've seen, we've responded by adding monthly features on travel, health, leisure and entertaining that help you make the most of your time -- personally and professionally.
Additional special sections -- Summer Getaways and Retreats, Meetings and Conferences Planner and Luxury Residential Real Estate -- showcase the valuable services our advertisers have to offer.
As always, we're committed to delivering award-winning business coverage built around Florida Trend's unique statewide perspective on the news and issues shaping Florida's business climate. That perspective is on display each month in our feature stories as well as our columns and reports, including the Around the State section, Of Counsel, Trendsetters, Small Business, Technology and TopRank Florida lists.
We'll be working even harder to make our annual news reports -- Industry Outlook in January, Economic Yearbook in April and Florida CEO Trends in December -- the most reliable and valuable sources of critical information for the state.
In addition, we're planning our third annual Florida Legal Elite and Research Florida special reports as well as The Great Florida Restaurant Guide, Florida Small Business, Business Florida and Florida Trend's NEXT -- annual publications that target specific audiences with the same quality that you've come to expect from every Trend publication.
While the Planning Calendar gives you a general idea of what's coming next year, I can guarantee you that Editor Mark Howard and his team of editors and reporters will be uncovering stories and trends about Florida's business scene that you won't find anywhere else. I hear from so many of you that each month's cover story and feature stories consistently impress you with their dynamic and insightful reporting.
Our core mission, as always, is to keep you informed about the news and the trends that affect both you and your business. We can do that better with your feedback, thoughts and comments, and we look forward to getting your letters, e-mails and faxes.
As we look to the issues that will be facing Florida business in the coming years, I want to call your attention to the special report sponsored by AARP Florida: "Keeping Your Competitive Edge in a Changing Employment Landscape."
The report details the demographic trends that are dramatically changing the workforce. There's also a summary of the research that was presented at the "Trends in Florida's Workforce Symposium" our magazine co-sponsored with AARP Florida in Tampa last month. That research survey of 800 business people across the state found that Florida businesses can gain a powerful competitive edge by recruiting and retaining skilled, qualified older workers.
You'll especially want to check out the recruitment and career development strategies that have proven successful for the three Florida organizations selected by AARP as "Best Employers for Workers Over 50" for 2005: Brevard Public Schools, Lee Memorial Health System and Busch Entertainment Corp.
