In a landslide vote, Julio Robaina has been elected mayor of Hialeah, succeeding Raul Martinez, who stepped down after nearly 25 years as chief executive of this Cuban-American stronghold. Hialeah is Florida's fifth-largest city, with a population of more than 210,000. Robaina, a longtime city council member, is considered a protégé of the widely popular Martinez.
