Edward Beiner

Eyeglass designer Edward Beiner has seen his creations on celebrities such as Rosalyn Sanchez, Alicia Keys and Heidi Klum. His frames were spotted earlier this year in Nike's "Dominate Another Day" commercial, and several members of the Miami Heat are said to be fans. Beiner, a Brazilian who was raised in Puerto Rico and went to school in Canada, founded Edward Beiner Group in 1981 with a retail store in south Miami. By 2004, he had five stores and a booming design and manufacturing business, with $3.9 million in annual revenue and 28 employees. By last year, sales in the company's nine stores and its wholesale business reached $7.6 million, with 41 employees. It was a full recovery for a company that saw sales decline by 30% in 2008, when it opened three new stores during the height of the recession.
