LAKE MARY - Father-and-son team Sam and Mark Irvin have opened Island Club, a gated community of 37 lakefront luxury homes adjacent to upscale Heathrow.

LONGWOOD - Luxury car dealership Motorcar Concepts II is looking to acquire more dealerships. The company recently added a Port Orange dealership to its operation for $1.3 million. It also owns dealerships in Orlando, Apopka and Kissimmee and is expected to hit $100 million in sales this year.

MELBOURNE - Harris Corp. (NYSEHRS) has been awarded contracts totaling about $50 million to design and manufacture high-frequency radios for the Army's Falcon II program.

ORANGE COUNTY - The top official from each county in the region -- Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Volusi , Brevard, Lake and Polk -- has committed to a Central Florida Regional Leadership Council that met for the first time this spring as part of a 50-year visioning plan. Myregion.org and community partners are hosting meetings throughout the counties to gather citizens' input about how the area should grow. Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty serves as chairman, and Volusia County Chairman Frank Bruno as vice chairman. The 85 mayors of all cities and towns throughout the region are also gathering for joint planning sessions.

ORLANDO - Stirling Sotheby's International Realty has purchased the Sky Terrace Penthouse at the Premiere Trade Plaza, developer Cameron Kuhn's megaproject in downtown Orlando scheduled to open later this year with office condo space, retail and a theater.

? Meanwhile, real estate services firm Trammell Crow has taken over management of Kuhn's development properties in Orlando and Jacksonville.

? The city commission has approved plans for what will be the tallest building downtown, a 45-story residential structure that will be part of Orlando CityPlace. The $1-billion development at I-4 and Colonial Drive near the T.D. Waterhouse Centre will also include two 38-story residential buildings, a 14-story hotel/condo named the Lexington, a 14- story office structure and a seven-story retail-office-spa complex. Developers George Kalivretenos and Barry Greer are planning a separate art gallery there as well.

? Theowag Ltd., a European company that distributes environmentfriendly technologies, has established its North American division at the University of Central Florida Technology Incubator in Orlando.

WINTER PARK - Full Sail Real World Education has opened two studios. Its TV broadcasting studio features Sony high-definition cameras and an HD control room. The second studio specializes in motion capture for game development and computer animation programs.
