Upscale Upgrade

The Ritz-Carlton Naples has two heated pools and a spa (below) with 33 treatment rooms.

With the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples moving successfully toward its fifth birthday, the chain turned its attention to the Ritz-Carlton Naples, the original Ritz in southwest Florida.

In the past year, the 20-year-old, five-star property on the beach has undergone a $22-million renovation, with upgrades to its 450 guest rooms and suites, says Phil Werz, the hotel's marketing and communications manager. Each room comes with a 32-inch flat-screen TV, hardwood flooring in its foyer and a view of the Gulf.

The resort, already wellknown for its spa, the chain's largest at 51,000 square feet with 33 treatment rooms, also opened its 3,000-sq.- ft. Beach House, a twostory waterfront structure designed for weddings and other events.

Prices for standard rooms range from $199 to $659 a night, depending on the season. A 14th-floor, 2,500- sq.-ft. presidential suite seats 10 at its dining table and goes for $2,000 to $3,999 a night.
