? Kurvin Qualls is the new mayor of Jay. A fouryear city councilman and the only mayoral candidate in the town's September election, he succeeds Jackie Stewart. Qualls has worked for 20 years as a lineman for Escambia River Electric Cooperative.

? Jim Schmitz of Pensacola will become north Florida area executive for Regions Bank, supervising 94 bank branches in 13 counties, upon completion of the pending merger with AmSouth Bank. The appointment reprises Schmitz's current AmSouth role, which includes Pensacola city president.

? Marti Vickery has been hired as operations manager for the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, its first full-time manager.

? John Griffing, partner of Pensacola-based NAI Halford, has been elected 2007 president of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties of Florida. NAIOP has 1,300 Florida members, among 15,000 nationwide.
