Wage growth in Sunshine State holds steady amid economfic uncertainties

Maintaining consistent growth the past four months, Florida workers who kept their job for at least 12 months saw their wages increase by 4.5% year-over-year since July of last year, according to new data from ADP Pay Insights. The median annual salary for job-stayers in Florida this July was $52,800. The Sunshine State ranked around middle-of-the-pack among U.S. states that saw wage growth among job-stayers, clocking in at No. 24. More from the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Gas prices plunge by double digits in Florida

As of Monday, Aug. 4, the cost of gas is down about 15 cents a gallon in Florida and in the area, according to AAA and fuel-monitoring service GasBuddy. Prices are about 15 cents lower from a month ago and more than 50 cents lower than than a year ago. Most areas of Florida have dropped below $3 a gallon. North Florida remains the cheapest to get gas in the state. Naples and Palm Beach County are among the most expensive areas. More from the Miami Herald.

ABOTA Jacksonville receives national award

The Jacksonville Chapter of American Board of Trial Advocates received the 2024 National Chapter of the Year Award for the fourth time. The award was presented July 12 at the ABOTA Summer Conference to recognize the accomplishments of the chapter and its members for their work on ABOTA programming. It is the second national award in the past four years and the fourth time the local group has been recognized as best in the nation, joining 1997, 2004 and 2020. Bloomin’ Brands names new CFO in c-suite shakeup

Bloomin’ Brands Inc., parent company to the Outback Steakhouse brand, has named new leaders of its finance, human resources, and Bonefish Grill divisions, among other executive changes, the company said Monday. The Tampa, Fla.-based company, which also owns the Carrabba’s Italian Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar brands, said the appointments were “designed to build capability to support the company’s ongoing business turnaround,” which is focused on the Outback brand.
