Arrests of undocumented immigrants rise in Florida

After declining for years, arrests of undocumented immigrants have nearly doubled in a region overseen by federal immigration officials in South Florida. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Miami office reported taking 6,192 people into custody this year across Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Florida retail giant seeks new outlet for sales growth

In another sign of retail’s shift from brick-and-mortar to e-commerce, Fort Myers-based Chico’s FAS has launched a new website, chicosofftherack.com. The site, according to a statement, gives customers online access “to the same exclusive styles available at Chico’s Outlet locations.” More from the Business Observer.

Bill offering free college tuition to Florida residents moves ahead

A bill that would offer free college tuition to thousands of Florida students has cleared its first hurdle in the House. If passed, the bill would cover 100 percent of tuition and fees for Florida residents with an annual household income of $50,000. More from NBC Miami.
