College of Law's environmental law program ranked 14th best in the nation

| 3/15/2017

Several Florida State University graduate programs had strong showings in U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 edition of “Best Graduate Schools” released Tuesday.

For the fifth year in a row, FSU’s school library media program ranked No. 1. Its services for children and youth program ranked 7th nationally.

The programs are offered within the Master of Science in Information degree program, which moved up one place to 12th in the nation overall, the university reported.

The report ranked FSU’s College of Law 48th best in the country, up from two posts last year. It also is ranked as the 24th best public law school. The college’s environmental law program was ranked 14th best in the nation, up from 18th last year.

“We are thrilled that U.S. News continues to rank us among the nation’s top law schools and that we are improving in these rankings,” FSU College of Law Dean Erin O’Connor said.

No other law school in the state ranks higher in the percentage of 2015 graduates employed 10 months after graduation in full-time, long-term, bar passage-required or J.D.-advantage jobs, according to FSU.

The University of Florida’s law school ranked No. 41 and Florida A&M University’s College of Law was recommended under “schools to consider.”

Other rankings for the University of Florida include:

The College of Education ranked No. 19 among public graduate education colleges.

UF's MBA was ranked in the top 20 public full and part-time programs.

The College of Medicine was listed at No. 40 in the country.

Its College of Nursing doctor of nursing practice program ranked No. 44.

Wertheim College of Engineering was ranked No. 42 in the country.

Other FSU programs recognized include:

The College of Nursing’s master’s and doctor of nursing practice programs increased 30 spots (No. 103) and 29 spots (81) respectively.

Graduate programs in history, economics and English also moved up in rankings.

“We are very pleased, and proud of all of our highly ranked graduate programs. We congratulate our colleagues in law and information,” said Sally McRorie, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs. “Once again, this level of excellence speaks to our preeminence as a top research university.”
