August job creation falls short of hopes

The U.S. economy added fewer jobs than the economist consensus forecast in August, the ADP Employment report showed. The private sector saw employment increase by 190,000 jobs; analysts had forecast an increase of 200,000. More from Bloomberg., USA Today, and CNBC.

Voalte gets $17 million in capital

Key players in the U.S. hospital business have made a direct $17 million investment in Voalte, positioning the Sarasota-based health care communications firm for further growth. More at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

With Labor Day later, AutoNation sales dip in August

Labor Day weekend is prime selling time for vehicles, and with the holiday later in September this year, AutoNation reported a dip in August sales of new cars and trucks. The country's largest auto retailer said it sold 5 percent fewer new vehicles this August compared to last, when the month included two days of the Labor Day weekend. Innovation Hub to double with federal grant and UF match

The University of Florida will double the size of the Florida Innovation Hub with another $8 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, providing more space for technology companies to start and grow. The EDA and UF announced the grant Tuesday, which includes a $9 million match from the university. More at the Gainesville Sun.

SeaWorld gives free admission to Florida first responders

SeaWorld Orlando will give free admission to Florida-based first responders throughout September, the theme park announced Tuesday. Qualified first responders can also receive up to four discounted tickets for friends and family for 50 per ticket. More at the Orlando Sentinel.
