Net Element to stream live 3-D race videos

Miami-based Net Element is hoping to be able to stream live 3-D broadcasts of auto races on its Motorsport.com website next year. The 3-D recording and production is just one of the new technologies the company is working on.

It has created or acquired software to store, sort and play rich media; a mobile application to help college students barter and sell goods; and an algorithm to create personalized music playlists based on individuals' reactions to images. On its OpenFilm.com website, independent filmmakers can upload their movies — including in 3-D format — and participate in film festivals and contests. Net Element's advisors and shareholders include actors James Caan and Robert Duvall, as well as racing legend Emerson Fittipaldi. The company was founded by Mike Zoi, who also co-founded electric battery maker Ener1. Day-to-day operations are run by OpenFilm.com founder Dmitry Kozko, who joined when Zoi acquired his company in 2010.
