Florida gasoline prices down slightly

It was a little cheaper last week for Florida motorists to fill up their gas tanks.

The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in the state Sunday was $3.28, down from about $3.31 a week earlier, the AAA auto club said Monday. AAA said the decrease stemmed from lower crude-oil prices.

"Gas prices may inch a little lower this week, following the recent declines in the oil and gasoline futures market," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a prepared statement. "Despite the setback, significant upward pressure remains in the oil market. Prices are still at seven-year highs and are likely to remain elevated through the holiday season, which will in turn keep upward pressure on prices at the pump."

The average gas price Sunday was up from $3.12 a gallon a month earlier.

The most-expensive gas in the state Sunday was in the West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Vero Beach metro markets, according to AAA.

The least-expensive gas was in the Sebring, Punta Gorda and Villages markets.
