Florida State University names new dean of College of Nursing

Florida State University has tapped Jing Wang to be the next dean of the university’s College of Nursing, billing Wang as a “national leader in digital health” for her experience using technology in health care.

Wang is currently vice dean for research at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Nursing.

A news release from FSU announcing the appointment of the new dean on Monday highlighted Wang’s work, emphasizing her work at the intersection of technology and medicine.

“Wang likes to work collectively, as evidenced by her stimulated synergy with other academic institutions on precision health, artificial intelligence and 5G telemedicine initiatives,” the university said. Wang plans to bolster “research, education, clinical practice and community engagement” at FSU's College of Nursing, she said in the release.

“I am very intrigued by the College of Nursing’s strong academic nursing programs and strengths on health equity research, as well as Florida State’s collaborative spirit and strong focus on student success, especially for the first-generation students, and commitment to serve underserved communities,” Wang said.

Wang is slated to start in her new role on August 16.
