The former Sarasota High School building along Tamiami Trail was designed in 1926 by architect M. Leo Elliott in the Neo-Collegiate Gothic style. The iconic red brick building, which held its last high school class in 1996, has been repurposed into the Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College. The $30-million transformation also included the renovation of a 1959 addition designed by Paul Rudolph, the one-time chairman of Yale University's Department of Architecture.
