New moon-orbiting space station could bring money to Central Florida workers

NASA is building a space station near the moon as a way station to get people there. As a way to keep that space station running, the agency is asking Central Florida businesses to pitch in. Airbnb doesn’t have to pay tourism tax in Florida, judge says. That’s the host’s job

A lawsuit against Airbnb that was spearheaded by Manatee County Tax Collector Ken Burton Jr. has been dismissed by a local judge, citing an identical case in Palm Beach County. Palm Beach’s tax collector filed a lawsuit in January 2014. Florida Aquarium notches best attendance since the year it opened

Attendance at the Florida Aquarium rose 5 percent over the past 12 months, topping 841,000, the most in more than two decades. Orlando Magic’s downtown entertainment district grows to $500 million-plus

The Orlando Magic has filed an updated master plan for its downtown Orlando Sports + Entertainment District that’s expected to more than double the original $200 million project budget, according to a report in GrowthSpotter. Magic Senior Vice President Joel Glass told GrowthSpotter that the mixed-use district will be built starting next year on 8.4 acres across from Amway Center. DeSantis attacks $15 minimum wage initiative; Morgan fires back

Gov. Ron DeSantis questioned a proposal to increase Florida’s minimum wage to $15 an hour through the constitutional amendment process, warning about effects on the restaurant industry. Orlando attorney John Morgan, who chairs and has largely bankrolled the political committee Florida For A Fair Wage, strongly disagreed with DeSantis’ assessment.
