Florida Power & Light has proposed building a 485-acre solar panel array in rural southeast Palm Bay, stretching from Centerlane Road northward to the Deer Run neighborhood.

The 75-megawatt Palm Bay Solar Energy Center's 300,000 photovoltaic panels would angle to the southwest to harness the sun's rays, generating enough electricity to power about 15,000 homes.
