The Florida Magazine Association (FMA) and the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) have recognized Florida Trend for outstanding writing, magazine design, website and email.

At the Florida Magazine Association meeting in Orlando over the weekend, Florida Trend took home four awards:

• Gold “Charlie” Award for Best Overall Magazine
• Gold “Charlie” Award for Best Overall Design
• Silver for Best Overall Writing
• Silver for Best Magazine Website, FloridaTrend.com

At a recent American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) meeting in New York City, the group recognized Florida Trend seven times. Three national awards, called the AZBEE Awards, were:

• Gold: Around the State (news section)
• Silver: Jason Garcia for “Domino Effect” (state politics)
• Bronze: Amy Keller for investigative work on diploma mills

In addition, Florida Trend is a finalist for several regional ASBPE awards:

• Daily Pulse e-newsletter in general excellence
• Mike Vogel for his profile of Miami, and for a piece on the Avon Park bombing range
• Mark Howard for his editor’s column

Recognizing achievements by Florida magazines since 1957, FMA's annual Charlie Awards competition crowns publishers, writers, editors, artists, photographers, printers, marketers and others as the best among their peers in scores of categories.
