Florida unemployment drops; job creation picks up
Florida's unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent in June, down a notch from 6.3 percent a month earlier, as job creation picked up. The state added 37,400 jobs over the month, according to figures released early Friday by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. More at the Tampa Bay Times and the Orlando Sentinel.
Obama opens East Coast to oil search
The Obama administration has approved the use of sonic cannons to explore for oil and gas off the Eastern Shore. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on Friday formally approved guidelines for using air cannons in the Atlantic Ocean from Florida to Delaware More at the AP.
Disney reaches tentative contract agreement with unions
Walt Disney World has reached a tentative agreement with its largest union group that includes a minimum hourly rate of $10 for its workers starting in 2016. Disney reached the agreement with the Services Trade Council, a coalition of six unions covering 21,000 full-time workers. More at the Orlando Sentinel.

Carnival tops list of “buzz improvers”
Buzz has improved for Carnival Cruise Lines more than any other U.S. brand, according to the YouGov BrandIndex mid-year 2014 Buzz Rankings Report. The consumer perception research service measured buzz, or net sentiment, for January through June of 2014. More at the Miami Herald.
